Gotta luv the VOG members and their wide range of expertise etc. Thanks to all that helped and gave good advice as to this fault. Started at least six times today and it started in neutral ever time with out having to pull the clutch in. I am guessing that these wires are now dry enough to not tell lies to the ecu anymore. I got my hand in there kind of and cleaned it off best I could without taking the reverse mechanism off to give a clear go at it. What I did notice about a month back was the top of the wires which i presume are connected to this gear selection thingy was covered in oil as the rubber hose connection of the oil breather thingy that goes back up under the tank to take excess fumes etc. But today for some mysterious reason, the bike started up as it normally should, with gear selction in neutral and the clutch not touched, first time in 6 months approximately. OK! Took awhile to find my own post about this thing. Does this sound a little like I just do not trust them a great lot, damn right it does.

At least if I know whether the seat needs lifting or whatever needs to be done, I can ensure that all is back together when done and nothing hanging loose etc.

I just want to be sure of how to get to the place on the bike so as not to have non bike savvy people tearing my bike apart trying to find it. The Technician at the dealer I was talking with informed me that all polaris dealers use it. I have edited this post to explain a little more. Refer to my thread for reasons for wanting this information.

$60.00 for the gear selector switch complete is not all that expensive but why buy it if it is something else causing the problem. I need to take my bike to the Polaris dealer here as I have been told by the Victory/Indian dealer down south that they will have the digital wrench and know how to use it to see if it is really the gear selection switch that is broke or not. Can some one show me with a pic and text where I would find the connection point for the digital wrench.
